Hi Guys! Guess what?! Oakland Indie Mayhem and Awaken Cafe are sponsoring the Oaktown Music Festival. You can nominate your favorite indie artists to be considered for a variety of awards with the grand prize of a day of recording at Fantasy Studios. Ooh la la. It would be so wonderful if you would take a minute to nominate my video of Saint Valentine. Will you do it? Oh, you are the greatest! Just visit this page and fill out the form. It only takes a minute and you don't have to sign up for anything to do it. Here is the link for the video so you can copy and paste it in that field: http://youtu.be/Qd5V8jlZHSo Thank you, thank you!
Awaken is Oakland's new hot spot for local live music. If you haven't been there to check out a show yet, you are in for a treat. The ambiance is hella cool, the sound is excellent and the people are real. With a fine selection of beer, wine and light fare, it's a great place to go out and enjoy some lovely music and refreshment. The acts are carefully chosen by Oaktown Indie Mayhem, which is a great new local production company. They've grouped me up with the talented Remi and Chloe and Debbie Neighor. I'm going on at 8, so don't be late. Full details on my Shows Page.
I wrote this new song the other night and I thought I would post it so y'all can hear it. I'm not sure if it's a keeper or not, but it is fun to put it out there and see what people think. Here it is for your listening enjoyment.
I was so honored to participate in an event at City Hall in Oakland today. I was asked to sing a song acapella for the ten gay couples who got married today, along with thier friends, family and Oakland community members who were in attendance. I am so thrilled that gay marriage is finally legal in California, and I was super-duper thrilled to be able to contribute a song to commemorate the ceremonies. I sang Butter Your Toast and I saw more than a few people smiling and putting their arm around their loved one as I sang. You can hear the song, with the piano, as performed at the Whitney Manor soon after I first wrote it on my video page.
I am super-proud of this new song I have been working on. I just posted it to soundcloud with some beautiful cello goodness contributed by the Celloist. I will definitely be playing it live at my show this Saturday at Actual Cafe in the East Bay and next Saturday at the Songwriter Saturdays at the Exit Theater in San Francisco. For full details see my shows page. Hope you enjoy the tune.
Check out the video below of my new song: I Don't Believe In Love. Don't get too worried, I have not lost all faith in the Universe, I was just inspired by the way real love doesn't often present itself the way it's almost always portrayed in mainstream movies and media. This song will definitely be included in my set at the upcoming Lost Church show which is going to be Ah-MAZE-ing! It's my first show with a band and I am really excited about it because things are sounding really good! Full details on the Lost Church gig can be found on my Shows Page. See you there!
In honor of Easter's recent passing I thought I would share this new video of my song Jesus and Judas. This video was taken at the PLACE Songwriter's Showcase on March 30th. As you will see and hear this was a wonderful show, and the folks at PLACE for Sustainable Living are up to some really awesome stuff. You should check out this new Songwriter's Showcase if you get a chance, it's on the last Saturday of every month.
Tonight is history in the making. A new Songwriter's Showcase is beginning at the PLACE for Sustainable Living. Come check out this beautiful emerging venue with an outdoor fireplace and a great sound system. I will be opening for the wildly talented Essie Redbird and Heather Normandale! I'm going on at 8pm. Full details here.
It's almost Valentine's Day and this cute animated music video for my anti-love theme song Saint Valentine is the perfect way to show your friends and loved ones that you care. But cheesiness aside, this video will actually bring a smile to your face, so enjoy it and share it generously. Cause everybody could use a smile. :-)
