The first recording session for RISE was yesterday. Throughout the month of November it will be recorded at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Mixing and mastering will happen in December and pre-release digital downloads of the completed album should be available before Christmas. It's already sounding pretty fantastic, and I can't wait to share it with you! Check out my Journal page if you want more details on how things are going.
My IndieGogo campaign was a great success! We raised almost 8K, about half of the goal. Thank you so much to everyone that pitched in-you are wonderful, and I can't wait to get you your perks and share this album with you when it's done! If you missed it you can still watch the video here, and you can still give to offset the costs of making the album by making a donation through paypal here. I'm planning to post updates on the album regularly, so keep an eye out.
It's the last week of my Indie Gogo campaign to raise funds for my second album, RISE. I have started on the pre-production with Julie Wolf and it's been so much fun. This is shaping up to be a really beautiful project and I would love to have you be a part of it if you aren't already. Here's the link: bit.ly/urbanminstrel Please take a moment to watch the short video, give what you can, and share far and wide! Also, here's a new video of the song I wrote about auditioning for America's Got Talent. Sharing this video is a great way to spread the love as well. You can use this short link to share: bit.ly/AGTsong ~~Enjoy!~~
Here are three demo recordings of tracks that will be on my second album, RISE. I am going to be launching an indie gogo website soon to raise funds. I hope you will join me in making this project a reality!
The Mini-tour to Chico was a huge success! There were at lot of people at the Everything Blue gallery opening-and they loved my music! I have never seen so many people dancing to my songs. Thanks to all the lovely folks in Chico who came out. While I was in town I met up with some folks from the local paper and we shot a couple of live songs in the gallery during the afternoon. You can check out the videos here. Enjoy!
Hi Guys! Guess what?! Oakland Indie Mayhem and Awaken Cafe are sponsoring the Oaktown Music Festival. You can nominate your favorite indie artists to be considered for a variety of awards with the grand prize of a day of recording at Fantasy Studios. Ooh la la. It would be so wonderful if you would take a minute to nominate my video of Saint Valentine. Will you do it? Oh, you are the greatest! Just visit this page and fill out the form. It only takes a minute and you don't have to sign up for anything to do it. Here is the link for the video so you can copy and paste it in that field: http://youtu.be/Qd5V8jlZHSo Thank you, thank you!
Awaken is Oakland's new hot spot for local live music. If you haven't been there to check out a show yet, you are in for a treat. The ambiance is hella cool, the sound is excellent and the people are real. With a fine selection of beer, wine and light fare, it's a great place to go out and enjoy some lovely music and refreshment. The acts are carefully chosen by Oaktown Indie Mayhem, which is a great new local production company. They've grouped me up with the talented Remi and Chloe and Debbie Neighor. I'm going on at 8, so don't be late. Full details on my Shows Page.
I wrote this new song the other night and I thought I would post it so y'all can hear it. I'm not sure if it's a keeper or not, but it is fun to put it out there and see what people think. Here it is for your listening enjoyment.
I was so honored to participate in an event at City Hall in Oakland today. I was asked to sing a song acapella for the ten gay couples who got married today, along with thier friends, family and Oakland community members who were in attendance. I am so thrilled that gay marriage is finally legal in California, and I was super-duper thrilled to be able to contribute a song to commemorate the ceremonies. I sang Butter Your Toast and I saw more than a few people smiling and putting their arm around their loved one as I sang. You can hear the song, with the piano, as performed at the Whitney Manor soon after I first wrote it on my video page.
